The traditional name for Brisbane is Meanjin and it is home of the Turrbal and Yuggera people. Turrbal Country covers Brisbane’s Northside, Pine River, Bribie Island, and parts of Greater Brisbane and Redcliffe while Yuggera covers Ipswich, and Brisbane Western Suburbs and Brisbane Valley. Turrbal and Yuggera peoples have lived in the area for more than 32,000 years and the traditional language is Yuggera.
